This marked a successful debut for new head coach CJ Fleming. The game took a dramatic turn as Brycen Allen's crucial layup with just 15 seconds left on the clock secured the victory, with a strong defensive effort ensuring Fairmont was unable to respond in the final seconds. Senior player Johnson had an outstanding performance, leading the scoring with 26 points, while Jacob Lubinski also contributed significantly with 13 points. The Comets, starting their season at 1-0, are set to play against St. Xavier on Tuesday, December 2nd.

With this being the largest High School meet in the nation, both our swim & dive teams performed very well! The boys finished runner-up to St. Xavier for the 4th year in a row! We finished a mere 6.5 points behind them! 703-696.5 points (last year we only scored 446 points)! There were 11 preliminary sites held throughout the SW District. Swimming finals were held at St. Xavier High School. The Comets brought over 16 swimmers to compete at finals each night! It was a total team performance by both squads! The divers had a great weekend as well! There finals were held at West Clermont High School on Sunday. | 1/31 | GMC @ Mason | Mason Boys Swimming Clinches 10th Consecutive GMC Championship Mason, February 2, 2026– The Mason Boys Swimming team continued their dominance in the Greater Miami Conference (GMC) by capturing the league championship this past weekend, marking their 10th consecutive title and 14th overall. Demonstrating remarkable talent and teamwork, the Comets secured victory by winning 6 out of 12 events, decisively outdistancing runner-up Sycamore by over 190 points. The team was propelled by standout performances from individual winners: Ethan Tu, who triumphed in the 200 IM; Nathan Lee, who seized first place in the 100 Butterfly; and Caleb Tan, who excelled in the 500 Freestyle. Adding to the triumph, all three relay teams emerged victorious:
The diving team also showcased exceptional talent, with Juju Nkhumane finishing as runner-up in diving and Christian Poh securing third place. The Comets now set their sights on the upcoming Sectionals, aiming for their 9th consecutive Sectional Title and a path to the District Championships. The Sectionals will take place on Saturday, February 13th, at Mason, with diving sectionals hosted at West Clermont on Wednesday, February 10th. Mason had a good mix of veteran & 1st year swimmers both competing. All swam very well! The girl’s squad was led by Serena Tu & Clara Maney. Serena was a double winner, winning the 200 & 100 Freestyle, while Clara won the 100 IM & finished 2nd in the 50 Freestyle. With this being the largest High School meet in the nation, both our swim & dive teams performed very well! Our Girls team defended their team title by beating runner up St. Ursula by only 31 points! This is the girl’s 4th straight win! There were 11 preliminary sites held throughout the SW District. Swimming finals were held at St. Xavier High School. The Comets brought over 16 swimmers to compete at finals each night! It was a total team performance by both squads! The divers had a great weekend as well! There finals were held at West Clermont High School on Sunday. Congratulations to senior, Isabella Giraldo who finished 1st! | 1/31 | GMC @ Mason | FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Mason Girls Swimming & Diving Clinch 19th Straight GMC Title Mason, February 2, 2026– The Mason Girls Swimming & Diving teams celebrated an outstanding achievement by securing their 19th consecutive Greater Miami Conference (GMC) team title this past weekend. Since joining the GMC in the 2007-08 season, the girls have maintained an unparalleled winning streak, triumphing over runner-up Sycamore by more than 150 points in a spectacular team effort. Leading the charge were standout performances from senior Dana Fairbanks, a double event winner capturing the 200 IM and 100 Backstroke titles. Dana's efforts add to her impressive tally of six individual league titles overall. Fellow senior Bella Teply also shone, winning the 200 Freestyle. Bella's performance not only earned her a league title but also broke a record set in 2010 and tied the pool record. Sophomore sensation Sarah Li added to Mason's victories with a win in the 100 Freestyle. The team's success was bolstered by wins in two relays:
Bella Teply's incredible achievements were recognized as she was named "GMC Swimmer of the Year" for the 2nd time in her career. In diving, senior Isabella Giraldo earned the coveted title of "GMC Diver of the Year" for the third consecutive year. Isabella's win was part of a dominant performance in diving, completed by Corinne Hartmann taking second, Michelle Zuo finishing third, and Hannah Landeros securing fourth. The Comets are now focusing on the upcoming Sectionals, targeting their 11th consecutive Sectional Title and onward progression to the District Championships. Sectionals are scheduled for Saturday, February 13th, at Mason, with diving sectionals on Wednesday, February 10th, at West Clermont. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Mason Boys Bowling Sweeps the GMCComets Capture 7th Conference Championship The Mason Boys Bowling Team rolled its way to another Greater Miami Conference Championship on Thursday night, defeating Hamilton to complete a perfect 9–0 league season and secure the program’s seventh GMC title. This championship marks the third time Mason has claimed the GMC crown outright, while the Comets have shared the title on four other occasions. Since bowling became a GMC-sponsored sport in the 2004–05 season, Mason ranks second only to Oak Hills (12) in total conference championships, outright or shared. The Comets’ lone setback this season came against Elder, the top-ranked team in Southwest Ohio. Mason enters the postseason with an impressive 12–1 overall record and is currently ranked #4 in the Southwest Ohio Coaches Poll. This season’s success has been driven by the leadership and performance of seniors Drew Freeman, Ryan Monahan, and Noah Rumanski, along with key contributions from juniors Drew Elegeer and Gus Hansen. The Comets are guided by head coach Joe Riestenberg, whose team continues to demonstrate consistency, focus, and championship-caliber play. Mason will close out the regular season with upcoming matches against Loveland on February 9 (Senior Night), at Moeller on February 12, and the GMC Conference Clash on February 14. Postseason play begins on February 17, when the Comets compete at the Sectional Tournament in pursuit of their 14th advancement to the District Championships, having qualified 19 times in the past 21 seasons.
